26 Oct For Gratis: November Posters Available Now!
For our November Posters, we wanted something that showcased a recognizable Windsor landmark, just like our previous posters. With Remembrance Day being only a couple weeks away, we also wanted to pay respects to our city’s military history. The Fighters of Jackson Park was the perfect way to achieve both goals.
Jackson Park is filled with memorials, including a WWII and Korean War memorial. The most famous monument is, of course, the Supermarine Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane fighters. Originally in that location was an Avro Lancaster bomber. It was removed in 2005 because of the effects that exposure to the elements was causing. To preserve the legacy of the Lancaster, there’s now a garden in the shape of a bomber beneath the area where it used to sit. The fighters on display now are actually just fiberglass models, instead of an actual aircraft like with the Lancaster. Both the Hurricane and Spitfire, from which our hockey team gets their name, were used extensively by the Allies in World War 2.
The November Poster will be available starting Tuesday, November 1st. There’s limited quantity, so be sure to get yours right away.
